2020 SPECIAL ISSUE ON MANAGEMENT CASESVol.39 No.2, Apr. 2020 C.K. Farn Special Issue Editor’s Note
The current issue of Management Review is the eleventh special issue of teaching cases. We began calling for papers in January 2019, and received 22 submissions by the deadline on September 16, 2019. The preliminary review was completed in the Ninth Management Teaching Case Seminar held on September 27, 2019. Four reviewers reached their consensus to accept 14 articles to the second review and finally accepted 6 out of these articles, the acceptance rate for the special issue was 27.27%.
The resulting current issue of Management Review contains six articles – three management-level field cases, one operation-level field case, one library case, and one anonymous case. The first article, “Tunneling Behavior of Controlling Shareholders and Corporate Governance: A Case Study of XPEC Inc.” written by Li-Ching Chiu, is a management-level library case. As a typical fraud committed due to tunneling, XPEC case is representing a good teaching case.
In the second article, “Techtalent’s Job-Hopping Storm: Alarm or Opportunity?” written by Han-Yu Lee, Chun-Ying Yang, and Ying-Jung Yeh, an anonymous management-level case, the authors detail how an internal human resource issue adversely affects the company. While in the meantime, the business status and industry situation do not have any influences on the addressed topic. Reviewers exceptionally accept this anonymous case because it still delivers significant teaching values.
The third article, “The Restaurant Operation and Management of Chang Gung Health and Culture Village”, is an operation-level field case written by Chin-Horng Chan, Alice M.K. Wong, and Sheng-Pen Wang.
The rest of three articles are all management-level field cases. They are “Chiao Fu’s Overseas Investment Strategy” by Fu-Chuan Ni and Shih-Chang Hung; “Wei-Fong Construction Company-A Case of Collective Resignation” by Chih-Chien Chen, Yao-Chung Yu, and Hui-Chen Chang; “An Analysis of M&A Decision of Distributor-A Case Study of Wenhsiung Optical” by Tzu-Chia Huang, Yi-Chun Lin, You-Zhen Dai, and Hao-Chieh Lin. |
